Project LOL: Living Out Love

29 Dec

I am getting a head start on New Years Resolution’s because any day is a good day for a good change. I am embarking on a whimsical soul exposing journey of falling head over heels in love. I am not looking for a beau to have stolen moments with or for long walks on cold days with warm fingers mingling, although I am not entirely opposed to the idea. I am looking to LIVE OUT LOVE in every sense, way, shape, and form.

Project LOL will commence immediately and will consist of various methods and forms of action with no really means of measure except for warmth given, smiles made, and love expanded. I will go fearlessly forward in this expedition as Project LOL will not be an easy feat. The name provides warm undertones but the real nature of it is shifting existing thought patterns, reforming reactions, and involves incredulous amounts of self-reflection. Project LOL is very serious but necessary work. It also implicates turning to love in the face of anger and fear even when the individuals targeted are not ones who have or will return the gesture.

My first mission is just to spread some love in a new and surprising way to complete strangers, anonymously of course. I will be filling out an undecided number of blank cards with a favourite quote and a “Reason to Smile”. Quotes will range from the likes of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” With a splash of Mother Teresa: “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” The “Reasons to Smile” will point out everyday things that are commonly taken for granted. Example: ” Reason to Smile: You woke up today. You are still breathing.”

Each card will be strategically hidden in various public places such as in a book shelf at a store, a public transit bus, a coffee shop, a gas station, maybe even a public restroom. The first Project LOL initiative is a blatant outward expression of anonymous love with fruits unseen. I will never know their impact and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Start Living Out Love.

Signed and Sealed with Love,
